GWD Special Day of Training and Notice of Special General Meeting 2024

The Aikido Victoria Committee is calling a Special General Meeting (SGM) to vote in a new position of Director.

Date: Saturday 26 Oct, 2024
Time: 4:30pm immediately after Special Day of Training
Place: Glen Waverley Dojo

At our 2024 Annual General Meeting, it was noted that as a not-for-profit organisation, Aikido Victoria has additional reporting requirements to Consumer Affairs Victoria and the Australian Tax Office. We recently learned that in order to fulfil these requirements, we need to have a Director as well as maintain the role of Public Officer (currently filled by the Secretary) as “responsible persons” in the organisation. Having this new role is required for us to maintain our status as a not-for-profit organisation and fulfil our required reporting obligations.

The new role of Director will not have any additional power beyond existing for this purpose. Current committee roles and responsibilities (both voted and nominated) are not affected by this change. The process to vote in the Director is the same as any other committee position, as would normally be done at the AGM.

To expedite our ability to report to ATO, we will hold the SGM and vote immediately after the Glen Waverley Dojo Special Afternoon of Training on 26th October, around 4:30pm. No other business will be conducted at this time. All current members are invited to attend the SGM even if they are not able to join the training. Due to technological limitations, remote voting will not be possible.

You do not have to train on the day to attend the SGM, but it is encouraged.

Please also note that proof of a negative RAT result on the day will still be required, even if you are only attending the SGM. As usual, our volunteers will greatly appreciate it if you can do your test before coming, as this will let us get underway as promptly as possible.
